The Iranian government has officially announced its withdrawal from the tournament, citing security concerns and protesting recent U.S.-led military operations in the Middle East. Iran’s Sports Minister, Ahmad Donyamali, told state media that the nation would not participate in a tournament hosted by a government they label as “an aggressor.” This sudden exit leaves a significant void in Group G, where Iran was scheduled to play high-profile matches in Los Angeles and Seattle against Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand.
